Flea Market Finds... My Favorite Kind!

This morning, one of our local flea markets posted a picture, on FB, of something I knew I just had to have!  A vintage, Windsor rocking chair!  I called my dad immediately, and told him that would be the perfect thing for him to buy me for my birthday.  He agreed, and we quickly made our way to the market.

Here it is...

Isn't it beautiful???

I also lucked up and found an amazing, old, and rare(ish) schoolhouse style shade.  LOVE it!!

I can't wait to hang this in my {future} home!!!

I would say that we made some good buys today.   Flea markets are my favorite!

Happy Birthday, Dolly {part 2}

For her birthday, I made her a cover for her bed.  One that I can unzip and throw in the washing machine.  I think she loves it!

Under my "projects" tab, I have a few pictures of the sewing process for this adorable bed cover.  Check it out!

Happy Birthday, Dolly!

Today, is Dolly's 4th birthday.  Of course, we don't know exactly when her actual birthday is, because she was around 1 when we rescued her.  The first birthday she celebrated with us, we threw her a little party.  Cakes, presents, friends... It was a hit!  Dolly is so special to us.  She is the first thing that has ever truly belonged to me, and there are no words for what that experience has taught me, and is continuing to teach me.  Dogs are so much like children.  They need you every minute of the day.  They depend on you for food, attention.. LOVE.  Dolly has taught me patience, and so many other virtues..

Dolly was just a skinny, scared lady when she found us 3 years ago.  It was apparent that she had never known love.  I am very proud to say, that with just a little time, a lotta love and even more effort, she is ROTTEN!  She is happy, she feels safe, and she never has to want for anything.  ..And that is such a rewarding feeling.

Happy 4th Birthday, Dolly!  ~I love you.

It was 4 years ago today...

Today, Rob and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary.  Time flies!  It seems like just yesterday we said, "I do."    A lot has changed in 4 years, and also, not that much has changed.  We have really grown up and have learned to be more tolerant and patient with each other.  I am really proud that we have such a strong marriage.

We met about 8 years ago, and even though it was not love at first site, it didn't take us long to realize that we were meant to be together.  It's pretty cool being married to your best friend.  Our marriage is definitely not a fairytale, but I think it's pretty close. :)

Taking a trip down memory lane...

Our engagment picture.

The picture we used on our Save the Date card.  Just causal, like us!

Trying not to look nervous.  I'd much rather be the one behind the camera!!

You may kiss the bride!

My sweet Elli decided to make herself at home for this picture. :)

JUST MARRIED!

for the love of flowers..

Sunday, we held a wedding shower at our church. I was in charge of decorating the tables, buying the flowers, etc. Because I bought all of the flowers, I got to bring them all home after. They were a mix of hydrangea, alstroemeria and roses. Some of my favorites! I can remember the hydrangea bush that my Granny had in her yard. They were blue. Because of her, and our wonderful memories together, hydrangeas are my absolute favorite. I miss her.
Coincidentally that afternoon, my friend Rachel brought me a sweet bouquet she had picked from her yard. They are a mix of black eyed susan and wildflowers. The sweetest gifts are the ones that aren't bought.

Here are some pics of the flowers... they looked a little better when they were fresh, but they still make this home cheery! :)

Something New..

I decided today to start a blog.  I've been thinking about doing it for a while, but today is the day I decided to put the plan into motion!  I'm excited to share my creative ideas, home projects, and daily inspiration with people who have similar interests!  Keep checking back, as this blog comes to life!
